Origin. The scene comes from the mission "Franklin and Lamar" in GTA V, released on 17 September 2013. It circulated from launch day, but the big wave began on 13 May 2020, when a post redubbed it with a SpongeBob text-to-speech voice and got about 50,000 likes. "X roasts Franklin" videos followed, some passing a million views within weeks.
How people use it. Swap the roaster, keep the rhythm. Kermit, Harry Potter and Disney princesses all took a turn. Rockstar later nodded to the scene in a GTA Online co-op mission.
