All we had to do was follow the damn train, CJ

Origin. In the 2004 mission CJ drives alongside a train while Big Smoke shoots at gang members on its roof; if the train reaches the bridge first, the mission fails and Smoke yells the line. A YouTube clip of a failed attempt posted on 13 October 2010 gathered more than 234,000 views, and a 9GAG picture from 30 September 2014 earned over 21,000 points.

How people use it. As a caption for any failed simple plan, often rewritten: "all you had to do was calm them down, CJ". GTA V nodded back with a mission goal called "Better than CJ".

Example. A photo of a group project folder forgotten on a bus seat, captioned "all we had to do was follow the damn train".
